Attorney Jeremy Carter is recognized locally and nationally as one of the finest litigators in Massachusetts. He was admitted to the Bar of Massachusetts in 1983 and is also admitted to the Bar of the United States Supreme Court, and the United States District Court, District of Massachusetts. While Attorney Carter is a general practitioner, and handles all legal issues, the focus of his practice has been in the fields of Family Law, Criminal Defense and Civil Litigation. Attorney Carter graduated Emerson College (magna cum laude, 1980) and New England School of Law (1983).

Throughout his professional career, Attorney Carter has been active in the public sector. Prior to becoming an attorney, Attorney Carter was employed as a Mashpee Police Officer and a Special Agent for the Federal Bureau of Investigations. This experience has provided Attorney Carter with the knowledge of the intricacies of the criminal justice system. Attorney Carter has also been actively involved in the Cape Cod community formerly serving as Selectman of the Town of Mashpee and presently serving as the Town Moderator of Mashpee.

As a litigator, the First Justices of the Probate an Family Courts have recognized Attorney Carter as a recipient of the First Justices Award for his many Pro Bono matters including representing children through the “ARC” (Attorneys representing children) program. In addition, Attorney Carter has been named a “Top Rated Lawyer” for ethical standards and legal abilities by Martindale-Hubbell.

Prior to joining Carter DeYoung (formerly Wilkins, DeYoung and Carter) Attorney Carter had success managing his own firm. After years of adversarial proceedings with his now Co-Partner Steve DeYoung, Attorney Carter and Attorney DeYoung decided to enter into a partnership. Now both Attorney Carter and Attorney DeYoung are the managing partners of Carter DeYoung, one of the biggest law firms on Cape Cod.
